Rennes facing relegation

RENNES coach Vahid Halilhodzic, is determined to get it right and get the French club moving in the right direction.

Halilhodzic was brought in to replace former coach Philippe Bergeroo, after he was sacked following the team's poor start to the campaign.

After four points from his first four games in charge, the Bosnian admitted he faced a tough task in keeping the club in the top flight:

"Rennes already has one foot in Ligue 2 and there is a bit of unrest here that has been present for a few years now."

The former Lille boss, pleaded with the club's board and fan's for more patience with his side: "We are trying to change things, but transforming a kitten into a tiger can't be done in one week."

Meanwhile, Rennes midfielder Philippe Delaye, sent off in the 2-0 defeat at Bordeaux, will be fined by the club.

"He tarnished himself and the club and he will be fined accordingly."

The midfielder apologised to his team-mates but the Rennes boss said:

"It was a stupid thing to do."

Delaye is not the only Rennes player to feel the wrath of Halihodzic with Toifilou Maoulida being banished from training with the first-team for showing up late.
