Frei in Rennes pledge

Alexander Frei concedes it would take a big offer to persuade him to leave Rennes.

Alexander Frei concedes it would take a major offer to persuade him to leave Rennes.

The Switzerland international is a key member of the Rennes side and has led the line prolifically during the past two years.

He has caught the eye of Stuttgart and is also being tracked by several other Ligue 1 clubs following his exploits with Rennes.

But, rather than demand a move, Frei admits he is in talks regarding a new contract as he feels there are few better clubs in football.

"I am fine in Brittany, full stop," Frei told But!

"We are in talks over an extension but you know it is difficult to find better than Stade Rennais.

"There are not a lot of clubs like that in Europe. I feel at ease here and for two years the team plays very well so it is difficult to leave under those conditions.

"For my career, and at my age, I need a better project than at Rennes and it is not the case so far.

"Why should I change my team as I am lucky to play with team-mates that do their best to put me in the best conditions."
