Coach Alberto Zaccheroni is bracing himself to be without influential Turkish midfielder Emre Belozuglu and club skipper Fabio Cannavaro for the crucial European clash.
Talented schemer Emre is still suffering from a muscular injury, sustained against Juventus in a recent Coppa Italia tie.
The player underwent scans on Sunday and club doctors have now confirmed that he will now be required to take a complete break over the next few days and then begin a slow and cautious recovery.
Of further worry to Zaccheroni is the injury to Cannavaro. The dominant central defender, an integral feature of both Inter's and Italy's backline, is also struggling with a muscular strain.
Although the defender looks unlikely to make the European tie, it is believed the classy stopper could be risked even if he is not fully fit, such is the severity of the club's defensive woes.
In addition to this latest pair of injuries, Zaccheroni will also have to contend with the unavailability of long-term victims Carlos Gamarra, Obafemi Martins, Francesco Coco and Matias Almeyda.
