The Argentinian playmaker picked up the injury in Sochaux's opening fixture against Ajaccio, when he was unable to complete the 90 minutes.
The 28-year-old will go under the surgeon's knife on Monday as he has seriously damaged his knee ligaments.
The South American now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines and will not be back in action for six months.
Meanwhile, Sochaux's veteran defender Maxence Flachez will leave the club for Ligue 2 side Guingamp.
The 32-year-old will join En Avant on a two-year deal as Sochaux try again to sign Guingamp star Moumouni Dagano.
However, Guingamp chairman Noel Le Graet has once again refused to let his African ace leave.
