Sochaux starlet Jeremy Menez has joined Monaco on a four-year deal.
Monaco coach Laszlo Boloni has made Sochaux starlet Jeremy Menez his first signing at the club, subject to him passing a medical.
The Principality outfit have been battling with Bordeaux for the 19-year-old's services and had looked to have missed out on the playmaker after failing to match Sochaux's valuation.
However, after further talks with the player and his club, an agreement has been reached that will see Menez move to the Stade Louis II on a four-year deal.
"Monaco and Sochaux have found an agreement for the transfer of Jeremy Menez," a spokesman told Monaco's official website.
"The player will pass a medical and complete administrative details before signing for the next four years."
Menez has made 55 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring seven times, and is seen as one of France's brightest prospects. The playmaker has expressed his delight at being offered the chance to take up a left midfield role, as well as being reunited with Sylvain Monsoreau who is expected to sign a four-year deal from Lyon imminently.
"I wanted to come because I felt everyone wanted me at the club," said Menez.
"I met coach Laszlo Boloni and sport director Marc Keller, and I have been attracted by their words.
"Monaco is an ambitious club that wants to get back in the Champions League. I know I will improve and reach a new level.
"The chance to play as a left midfielder is a good thing. It was my position at Sochaux and I felt at ease.
"Moreover I will join Sylvain Monsoreau, who I knew at Sochaux. It is nice for my adaptation."
