Ligue 1 round-up

Second placed Lille were held to a 1-1 draw by Monaco in Ligue 1 on Sunday evening.

Second placed Lille were held to a 1-1 draw by Monaco in Ligue 1 on Sunday evening.

Both sides are battling hard at the top, but they could not be separated at Lille's Metropolis Stadium.

Monaco went ahead on the half hour as Ernesto Javier Chevanton powered the ball home after good work from Javier Saviola.

Lille, though, fought back and were level before the interval as Christope Landrin took advantage of a misunderstanding between Sebastian Squillaci and goalkeeper Flavio Roma to bundle the ball home.

Both sides had chances to win the game late on with both Chevanton and Lille's Matt Moussilou going close.

After a bright start to the season, Monaco have now gone seven games without victory. Lille's good run continues having lost just once in ten league matches.
