Claude Puel expressed delight at Mathieu Bodmer's decision to commit his future to Lille.
Claude Puel expressed delight at Mathieu Bodmer's decision to commit his future to Lille until 2011.
The midfielder signed fresh terms on Thursday to quell the reported interest of Arsenal and Puel foresees a bright future for Bodmer at Les Dogues.
"It is nice Mathieu trusts us, we are working on time and consistency," said Puel.
"It is good to see those young players improve - the club goes on working and improving.
"There is a common ambition to keep our best elements. It is important to accompany them."
Bodmer, for his part, is also an advocate of continuity and was keen to follow suit after the likes of Jean Makoun had previously committed their future to the UEFA Champions League hopefuls.
"I want stability. The club came back to me [after first talks in the summer]," said Bodmer.
"I saw the other young players have signed extensions too - I want to improve with them, it is just my third season in Ligue 1."
