Striker hints at Caen stay

Sebastien Mazure has hinted he will reject the overtures from St Etienne.

Sebastien Mazure has hinted he will reject the overtures from St Etienne, if Caen stay in Ligue 1.

St Etienne have proposed the striker a four-year contract to swap clubs in the summer when his Caen deal expires.

Mazure has scored 12 goals for the strugglers this term and is likely to play a key role in Caen's survival bid this weekend.

He netted in Saturday's 3-2 victory at Toulouse which lifted Caen out of the relegation zone, with the team facing bottom club Istres in their final game.

The forward admits St Etienne's offer is tempting but he will be happy to pledge his future to Caen, providing they retain their Ligue 1 status.

"I have not taken any decision yet about my future," said Mazure.

"St Etienne is an attractive trail but if Caen remain in Ligue 1 it will be my priority.

"I am 26-years-old and if I prolong my deal it will be for the long term."
