The Che signed the 18-year-old from Auxerre during the summer, and the teenager has already made a positive impression at the Mestalla.
Such has been his impact, Auxerre have launched a bid to try and take him back from the Spanish outfit on the grounds that he was still bound under the terms of a youth contract.
It appears unlikely that Sissoko will return to his former club, and Benitez was quick to praise the talented youngster.
"Sissoko still is not a decisive player, but is an important player," declared the Che coach.
"However, in the future he will be even more so.
"He has great potential, and the confidence I'm giving him comes from playing in the first team.
"Logically he's an important player if he's forming part of the squad."
On the dispute with the player's former club Auxerre, Benitez added: "I'm not sure of the exact situation.
"But I know players have development rights, we can reach an agreement, but if not Uefa will decide."
