Bolf is due in Auxerre this week to negotiate the terms of his transfer from Banik Ostrava.
The 29-year-old had been invited for a trial at Premiership side Bolton Wanderers prior to the start of the season but a contract offer was not forthcoming.
With Jean-Alain Boumsong leaving Stade Abbe-Deschamps at the end of the season, Auxerre coach Guy Roux is already aiming to secure a replacement.
Bolf admits a deal is far from being concluded but is targeting a positive resolution from his talks with Auxerre.
"I am leaving to negotiate the conditions of a possible transfer," said Bolf.
"However, nothing concrete has been settled yet."
