Roma will have to pay é¼7 million to Auxerre for having signed Philippe Mexes.
Roma will have to pay é¼7 million (£4,750,000) to Auxerre for having signed Philippe Mexes.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport decided on the amount after the Giallorossi signed Mexes while he was still under contract in June 2004.
The young defender says he is relieved that the ordeal is over and admitted he is still aiming to join Les Bleus before the World Cup finals.
Ç£It is a release," he declared. "The Court of Arbitration for Sport more or less decided in my favour, as Auxerre asked for é¼20 million (£13,500,000), and finally we only reached é¼7 million.
"Since that case, I have never been called again in French team. Now it is over, I hope they will call me back. The World Cup remains an aim for me.Ç¥
