Auxerre defender Stephane Grichting is excited ahead of his club's crunch game with Marseille.
The two sides are separated by just two points at the top of Ligue 1 and a win for Auxerre would see them leapfrog their opponents into the final European spot.
"The table is very tight, so we have to get maximum points to try and get the European place," Grichting told Reuters.
"The match against Marseille is like our final.
"We can't play badly against a team that is disappointed and tired by the Coupe de France defeat in Paris."
Meanwhile, a number of Auxerre players are rumoured to be in contact with other clubs about a move away from the Stade Abbe-Deschamps.
Yann Lacheur last week confirmed he had been approached by Bordeaux while Thomas Kahlenberg is expected to join Milan in the summer.
Midfielder Philippe Violeau admits all the speculation has had a negative effect as the club prepare for this week's game.
"Some players have had a lot of questions about their future and others want to leave the club," said Violeau.
"As a consequence, we are not in the best psychological condition to play such an important match."
