Guido Carrillo scored twice as Monaco beat 10-man Metz 7-0 to go top of the Ligue 1 standings.
Thomas Lemar (7), Valere Germain (23) and Bernardo Silva (39) scored in the first half to give the visitors a comfortable lead at the break.
Metz were reduced to 10 men in the 60th minute when Cheick Doukoure saw red and the floodgates then opened again, with Fabinho scoring from the penalty spot (68).
Carrillo scored a brace with his goals coming in the 72nd and 83rd minutes before Boschilia wrapped up a 7-0 victory in the last minute.
Toulouse slipped up in their pursuit of a place in the top three as they were beaten 1-0 by Caen. Ivan Santini's second-half penalty was enough for the
Normandy club to claim victory and climb to 12th in the standings while Toulouse remained fourth.
Mariusz Stepinski scored the only goal of the game as Nantes moved out of the bottom three with a 1-0 win against Bastia.
Rodrigue Ninga scored a hat-trick as Montpellier were held to a 3-3 draw against a battling Dijon at Stade Gaston Gerard.
Own goals from Geoffrey Jourdren and Anthony Vanden Borre brought the hosts back into the game before a late equalising header from second-half substitute Yohann Riviere stole a point.
Elsewhere, Eder's second-half penalty proved enough for a much-needed three points as Lille halted a four-match losing streak with a narrow 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Nancy, who dropped to bottom of the standings.
Earlier in the day PSG beat Bordeaux 2-0 to go third in the table.
