Nice returned to the top of Ligue 1 after comfortably overcoming Toulouse 3-0 at home.

Lucien Favre's men grabbed the lead through a 23rd-minute strike from Alassane Plea, who had latched on to a long ball forward from Dante.

Dante then produced a similar delivery three minutes later which Younes Belhanda took on with a delightful touch before finishing superbly from outside the box, lifting the ball over goalkeeper Alban Lafont.

Jean Seri slotted home the third in the 65th minute to wrap up a win that takes Nice three points clear of Monaco, who had gone above them on goal difference with Saturday's 5-0 thrashing of Bastia.

Rennes climbed to fourth place with a 2-0 victory over St Etienne at Roazhon Park, Paul-Georges Ntep and substitute Kamil Grosicki notching the goals in the 54th minute and stoppage time respectively.

Marseille are up to 10th after spectacular strikes from Florian Thauvin and Bafetimbi Gomis helped them to a 3-0 home victory over Nancy, who finished the contest with 10 men.

Thauvin opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half when he curled a beautiful shot in off a post from the edge of the box.

And Gomis doubled the advantage with around 10 minutes to go as he collected the ball from Thauvin's corner with his back to goal, turned and smashed it into the net.

Moments later Benoit Pedretti was shown a red card for a foul on Maxime Lopez, and Clinton N'Jie then added a precise finish in the dying seconds.
