The Swiss international joined PSG from FC Basel during the summer but has been plagued with the injury since his arrival in the French capital.
The 26-year-old is becoming frustrated with his situation, as he has received differing reports as to the nature of his injury.
His personal doctor in Basel diagnosed the problem as a hernia, which would require surgery and a two-month break from the game.
However, the Paris club sent him to see two French specialists, who reported that the player was suffering from groin tendonitis. PSG doctor Hakim Chalabi explained the situation.
He said: "Those experts confirmed our diagnosis and the absence of any injury due to his preparation with PSG.
"Now he has the choice. We proposed that he undertakes treatment here and we are at his disposal, but he is disturbed because he faces two opinions - one from someone he knows very well.
"He is free to do what he wants as it is his health."
