Hakan Yakin has admitted to being shocked at the treatment he received at Paris Saint Germain.
The Swiss star signed a four-year deal with the capital club in the summer, but his contract was cancelled by coach Vahid Halilhodzic due to concerns over his fitness.
Yakin has since re-signed with Basel, but is still hurt by what happened to him in Paris.
The gifted midfielder did, though, admit he made a mistake by not talking to Halilhodzic prior to signing with PSG.
"Before signing, I did not talk to the coach," he told L'Equipe. "That was a mistake. We should have talked.
"During a press conference, he talked about my extra kilos, but I had those last season and it did not stop me playing brilliantly in Switzerland and the Champions League.
"I was shocked by it all.
"It is true I was not at my best when I arrived in Paris, but I believe it had more to do with a lack of communication.
"About my groin injury, I could not stand it any more, surgery was the best solution.
"I wanted the different doctors to have a meeting, as I wanted to play in Paris."
