Spanish strugglers Espanyol are now believed to be leading the hunt for Paris Saint Germain forward Bartholomew Ogbeche.
The Nigerian teenager is expected to leave Parc des Princes before the close of the transfer window, with a loan deal in the pipeline.
PSG want Ogbeche to garner first-team experience and several clubs have shown an interest in taking on the youngster.
Ogbeche favours a move to injury-hit Marseille but PSG have no desire to loan the 19-year-old to one of their fiercest rivals.
Guingamp agreed a fee with the capital club for a six-month loan but that option does not interest the player.
Bastia are reluctant to meet PSG's asking price while Premiership side Portsmouth have been monitoring his situation.
Issues surrounding Ogbeche's ability to obtain a work permit, though, are likely to thwart any possibility of Pompey solving their attacking crisis by luring the African across The Channel.
Instead, Espanyol have now been mooted as the prime contenders to snap up Ogbeche, who could be reunited with former PSG coach Luis Fernandez.
The duo worked together at PSG and Fernandez has been anxious to reinforce his attack as he seeks to keep Espanyol in La Liga.
Fernandez has already brought in Romanian ace Claudiu Raducanu but may decide to add Ogbeche to his plans for the remainder of the campaign.
