New PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti has refused to reveal his transfer targets after being unveiled at the Ligue 1 club.

Leonardo also defends Italian's reported £5m salary

New Paris Saint Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti has refused to reveal his transfer targets after being unveiled at the Ligue 1 club. Funded by wealthy owners Qatar Sports Investment, the French league leaders are expected to be busy in January and have been linked with AC Milan's Alexandre Pato and David Beckham. Ex-Chelsea and Milan boss Ancelotti is also reported to be interested in former Stamford Bridge colleagues Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda. But the Italian has remained tight-lipped on his plans for January and he is also wary of disrupting the balance of his inherited squad. "I don't know if it's a good idea to name names right now as these are players who have a certain status in their clubs," said Ancelotti.

Market

"I didn't come here to completely shake up the team. It's in first place." Ancelotti's appointment and a reported salary of €6million (£5m) has received some criticism, but PSG sporting director Leonardo thinks it is only an indication of the club's determination to compete with the best on the continent. "Ancelotti's salary is within the market," said the Brazilian. "It's a price that other big European clubs would be willing to pay. "There's a European market, but realising this is new in France. I know it's difficult for some to understand. "But what drives this club is passion, not money."
