Algerian international Abdelmalek Cherrad (pictured) gave high-flying Nice the lead after 32 minutes with a terrific right footed strike.
Nice could have extended their lead, but it was Nantes who came back and levelled matters with just 13 minutes left.
Marama Vahirua was on hand to pounce with the leveller and set up a frantic finale.
Both sides could have won the game late on, but it was Nantes who had the better chances.
Stephane Ziani and Jean-Hugues Ateba came close, but Nice shot-stopper Damien Gregorini was on hand to help seal a point.
