Nantes sign Yapi Yapo

By Gerrit van Leeuwen
Beveren have officially confirmed they have reached an agreement with Nantes for the transfer of Gilles Yapi Yapo.

The 21-year-old signed a three-and-a-half year contract with his new club on Saturday morning, and is finalising the deal by undergoing medical tests in France.

Yapi Yapo is happy playing as an attacking midfielder or up front, and Beveren have agreed to let him leave because his contract was due to expire in the summer.

Meanwhile, the Jupiler League club are keen to recruit two more Ivory Coast players to replace the departing Yapi Yapo and his compatriot Yaya Toure.

Midfielder Dansako 'Madinho' Mamadou and Kante 'Badjan' Seydou are the men in question.

On-loan Arsenal centre back Igor Stepanovs (pictured) will let Beveren know next week if he will stay in Belgium or return to London.
