A 1-1 draw meant Barcelona picked up a point away at Real Sociedad, but the home side had a match-winning goal controversially ruled out for offside.

Barcelona may have been lucky to draw with Real Sociedad on Sunday after the hosts incorrectly had a goal ruled out for offside.

Sociedad had been leading the La Liga champions early in the second half after Willian Jose headed home in the 53rd minute.

But Lionel Messi made sure the lead only lasted six minutes as he smashed home from a Neymar cutback to score his 19th goal of the season.

However, Soceidad will feel aggrieved that they didn't take all three points as as they had a 76th-minute effort from Junami ruled out for offside - although replays showed he was a few yards on.

Carlos Vela was initially unlucky to see his curling effort from the right-hand edge of the area beat Marc-Andre ter Stegen, but then hit the underside of the bar.

However, from the rebound Juanmi put the ball in the back of the net, only for the fourth official to raise his flag and leave the home side reeling from the decision.
