With the European club season almost over, attention turns to the World Cup, but before that gets underway the transfer market will take centre stage.

With many clubs hoping to get their deals done before the tournament in Russia kicks off, the rumour mill has cranked up several notches far earlier than normal.

So we asked our friends at Football Whispers to scour the European newspapers and websites to bring you all the latest gossip from the continent.

Italy

Napoli will demand €70m (£61m) for Manchester City transfer target Jorginho, who is interested in a move to the Etihad. If the Italy international does depart then the Serie A runners-up will make Lucas Torreira his replacement. (Corriere del Mezzogiorno)

Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta admits it will be difficult to bring Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata back to Serie A but is "optimistic" about completing a deal for Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, who is out of contract this summer. (La Gazzetta dello Sport)

Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso believes Suso, who is a Tottenham and Liverpool transfer target, doesn't want to leave the club this summer. The Spaniard has a £33m release clause in his current contract at San Siro. (La Gazzetta dello Sport)

Arsenal transfer target Piotr Zielinski will sign a new contract with Napoli in the coming days. The Gunners have been linked with the midfielder for several months but he will pen a new deal keeping him in Naples until 2023. (Corriere del Mezzogiorno)

Valencia star Rodrigo is a Bayern Munich transfer target. The Spain international has enjoyed a fine season, scoring 19 goals in all competitions. Los Che would demand around €60m for the 27-year-old. (Marca)

Neymar remains set on forcing through a move to Real Madrid this summer despite PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi stating last week the Brazilian would "2000 per cent" be staying with the Ligue 1 champions. Leo Messi called Antoine Griezmann to convince him to move to Barcelona this summer. The France international has been offered a contract to make him the best paid player in Atletico Madrid history but he is set to join the Argentine at the Camp Nou. (AS)

Barcelona have agreed to make Griezmann the second highest earner at the club when he completes his €100m switch. The French star will only be behind Messi in the pecking order and will earn €15m-a-year net. (Sport)

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde says the club won't be trying to replace Andres Iniesta this summer simply because there is no other player like the legendary Spaniard. "We won't find anyone with the same characteristics as Andres, let's be realistic," he said. (Sport)

Tottenham are in advanced talks with Barcelona youngster Riqui Puig. The 18-year-old has opted against signing a new deal with the Catalans and looks set to complete a move to north London. (Sport)

Chelsea cooled their interest in former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique because Blues director Marina Granoskaia was put off by his "arrogance" after meetings in January and February. (Marca)

Spanish midfielder Rodri has confirmed he will leave Villarreal this summer. He is expected to sign for Atletico Madrid at the end of his contract. "Villarreal is a special club, it will always be engraved in the heart," he said. (Movistar+)

France

Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has emerged as a PSG transfer target. The England international looks set to leave the Emirates at the end of his contract this summer and the Ligue 1 champions have joined a long list of clubs, at home and abroad, interested in signing the 26-year-old. (L'Equipe)

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi says any club would would love Buffon, but insists the club's current No 1, Alphonse Areola, will remain first-choice next season. (L'Equipe)

Claudio Ranieri will wait for an "interesting project" after leaving French side Nantes. The Italian left the Ligue 1 side after guiding them to a ninth-place finish. (Canal+)

Germany

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the arrival of Swiss goalkeeper Marwin Hitz on a free transfer from Augsburg. The 30-year-old has signed a three-year deal and will compete with Roman Buerki for the No 1 spot. (Sport Bild)

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes Robert Lewandowski is loyal to the club despite the striker supposedly looking to secure a move to Real Madrid this summer. "He is completely loyal. Who spreads the rumours, we do not know. It does not matter. We've had lunch with Real's supervisors twice lately - there was not a word spoken about Lewandowski."
