Jose Antonio Reyes has denied insulting Atletico Madrid coach Javier Aguirre after being left out of the side to face Sevilla last weekend.
Media reports in Spain claimed that Reyes shouted at Aguirre after hearing that he was not going to get the chance to play against his former club.
Reyes has reacted angrily to the allegations and insisted that he has a good relationship with Aguirre
"I have not shown a lack of respect to the coach as I owe Atletico and I would never disrespect the club," the former Arsenal player told reporters.
"We have talked like we always talk and when I have not played in the past we have discussed it."
Asked about why he felt he had not won a regular place in Aguirre's team this season, Reyes added: "He has had his reasons. If it did not hurt me to be left out then I would not be a professional."
Speculation has suggested that Reyes could be set to move on in the summer, and he has been with a switch to Newcastle.
However, the Spaniard has stressed that he is in no hurry to secure a transfer.
He said: "I want to stay here for the four years of my contract. I have been treated very well and like it here, but you never know what could happen."
