Lucio to ponder future

BRAZILIAN powerhouse Lucio has refused to rule out a post-World Cup move away from Bayer Leverkusen.

Lucio's performances in Die Bundesliga and Champions League last season thrust him into the spotlight and he is being tracked by Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

His displays in the World Cup for Brazil have raised his profile even higher and the 23-year-old has been a constant beat at the heart of a shaky Samba Boys rearguard.

The commanding centre half is rated in the £15 million category and has generally stated he is keen to remain in Leverkusen.

However, amid determined interest from Barcelona and Real, Lucio admits he will consider his future after the tournament's climax in the Far East.

But he also revealed he will not sell himself short, following claims he was asking too much money to secure a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.

"I need to have a good World Cup and then later I can decide where it is better to play for me and my family," said Lucio.

"Madrid spoke of how much money I wanted to receive but I cannot leave a club to make less money.

"I prefer to remain with Bayer Leverkusen, to grow professionally and not to be lower from where I am right now."
