Barcelona presidential candidate Jaume Llaurado has claimed that they have agreed a deal to sign Chivu should he win control at Camp Nou, while Madrid have been long-term suitors of the Romanian international.
The 22-year-old admitted he was flattered to be linked with the two Spanish giants.
"I have heard the rumours as well," Chivu told VG. "But I don't know anything about it.
"If it's true I take it as a big compliment."
Meanwhile, Chivu has hit out at the Romanian Football Association ahead of their Euro 2004 qualifier with Norway.
Chivu is unhappy that his country does not get the full backing from their own football association.
"I'm not pleased. The FA is not one hundred percent behind us," fumed Chivu.
"We have poor facilities on our football pitches that are embarrassing to show.
"Stars from great clubs in Europe such as Parma and Ajax come home, but what do they give us; pitches that are almost impossible to play on.
"I don't feel comfortable in the national team, I want a better team, better pitches and a better system. But I'm professional, therefore I do my best for the circumstances that are there."
