MILAN executives Adriano Galliani and Ariedo Braida have handed in a formal transfer request for Barcelona defender Carles Puyol, planetfootball.com can reveal.
The Italian officials are in Barcelona to discuss a number of deals with new Azulgrana president Joan Laporta, director Txiki Beguiristain and coach Frank Rijkaard and contrary to reports in the media, Puyol and not Thiago Motta is top of their shopping list.
The Champions League winners offered Barcelona the chance to take either Demetrio Albertini or Roque Junior in exchange but refused Laporta's request to involve Massimo Ambrosini in the deal.
Motta's agent Dario Canovi confirmed that rumours of an imminent transfer for his player are wide of the mark.
He told planetfootball.com: "I was made aware that the Milan board members were in Spain by the papers but I have no information about it.
"Neither the Catalans nor the Rossoneri have contacted me to talk about the Motta situation. Therefore I am not even sure that they are interested in my client, even if I obviously hope they are."
Canovi indicated that the only reason that the Brazilian 20-year-old would want to leave Barcelona is because Milan have reportedly offered him three times his current wage at Camp Nou.
