The Dutch international has fallen out of the first team plans of Juve boss Marcelo Lippi and now looks set to move on before he leaves the Stadio delle Alpi on a free transfer this summer.
Barca's reported interest in the 30-year-old has been strengthened by the fact the Catalans are coached by Davids' former national team boss Frank Rijkaard.
Rijkaard himself has made no secret of the fact he would like to add the former Ajax star to his squad, but refused to confirm whether an agreement was close.
"Davids is a special player: he is a winner and a fighter," stated the Barca coach. "Every manager would want him in their team."
Davids' Dutch international colleague, and current Barca player, Michael Reiziger confirmed that his compatriot had indicated he was ready to leave Juve and revealed Barcelona had made enquiries for him.
"I talked with him before Christmas and he told me he wants to leave Juve," said the defender.
"But he told me there was not the possibility that Barca could buy him."
It seems that the main stumbling block to any deal could be the money that the Serie A outfit want for the loan period.
