Davids sails through Barca medical

Edgar Davids has passed a routine medical and will be officially presented as a Barca player on Tuesday afternoon.

The 31-year-old will be paraded by the Catalan outfit at 5pm (BST), and was given a glowing reference by the head of Barca's medical staff Jordi Ardevol.

"Physically, bearing in mind he is 31 years old and has had an extensive career, you can see he is a player who has looked after himself," commented Ardevol.

"He is a good professional, and a player who likes to be well prepared."

With the reality of losing Davids for nothing in the summer an ever likely prospect, Juve decided to remove the Dutchman's wages from the payroll by agreeing a deal with Barca.

Barca president Joan Laporta, together with vice president Sandro Rosell and sporting director Txiki Beguristain travelled to Turin at the end of last week to thrash out a deal which allowed Davids to jet to Spain for talks.

Davids has swiftly agreed a loan deal which ties him to the Camp Nou giants until June 30, 2004 at which point an option to extend will be triggered.
