Davids set for Barca deal

Barcelona have all-but sealed the deal to sign Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids from Juventus, according to the Spanish club.

Barca assistant boss Henk ten Cate says that he believes the deal is nearly completed, and that he will pen a three-year contract soon.

Davids said on Friday that his future was settled, but that he did not want to reveal his destination for next season until after Euro 2004.

However, Camp Nou assistant boss ten Cate believes that Davids will join Frank Rijkaard's side soon.

"Ï understand that the deal is nearly settled and that it will be only a question of time before he signs the three-year contract," ten Cate told Dutch television.

The 31-year-old Dutchman is in Portugal with Dick Advocaat's Holland squad for the European Championship, but is now expected to be playing at Spain next term.

Davids spent half of last season on loan at Barca, helping them to second place in the league, and should now be return to the Catalan giants for next term.

His contract with Juventus expires during the summer, when his switch from Serie A to La Liga will be finalised.
