Joan Laporta has revealed Barcelona will not sign a replacement for Thiago Motta.Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed the club will not be looking to sign another player following the serious injury to Thiago Motta.
The Brazilian midfielder was injured in last weekend's 2-0 win over Sevilla and has been ruled out for up to six months.
Spanish clubs are permitted special dispensation to sign players outside of the transfer window if a squad member sustains a long-term injury.
However, Laporta insists Barca already have sufficient players for the campaign ahead and will not be looking to dip into the transfer market again.
"In the place of Motta we will not be bringing in anybody else," he told TV 3.
"We have players like Edmilson, Gerard or Marquez already.
"We prefer to have 20 first-team players in the squad than 15 with five or six reserves."
Laporta did take the chance to publicly express his support for the injured Motta.
"What happened is very sad, we hope he recovers as soon as possible."
