Deco opened the scoring after 20 minutes with a deflected drive and a second by French ace Giuly from Ronaldinho's pass before the interval wrapped up the points for Frank Rijkaard's men.
With Real Madrid not playing until Sunday, Barca extended their lead at the top of the table to 11 points - for 24 hours at least.
Real Betis soared into third in the table following a 2-1 away success over Malaga.
The visitors got off to a flying start with Fernando opening the scoring just four minutes into the contest.
Edu doubled Betis' advantage before the Costa del Sol outfit responded through Fernando Baiano.
