David Beckham will miss Real Madrid's trip to Albacete this weekend.David Beckham will miss Real Madrid's trip to Albacete this weekend with a thigh injury.
Beckham strained his left thigh in England's 2-0 win over Azerbaijan on Wednesday.
He rejoined his Real team-mates for training on Thursday, but was forced out of the session by the pains in his left leg.
Subsequent scans have failed to reveal the full extent of his problem, but it is hoped he will resume training next week.
Real are hoping the England skipper will have no problems in making next weekend's showdown with arch rivals Barcelona.
Meanwhile, one player who looks certain to miss 'El Gran Clasico' is Barca's talismanic defender Carles Puyol.
The stopper damaged ankle ligaments in Spain's goalless draw with Serbia and Montenegro and has been ruled out of action for a minimum of two to three weeks.
However, Barca team-mate Xavi has still not given up hope of Puyol being fit for the clash, and claims the defender's incredible hunger and desire could see him make an early return.
"Knowing him as I do, I believe that he will return before everyone is expecting," Xavi said.
"Puyol is fundamental, he is the captain of the team and his commitment is spectacular. For me, he is the best defender in the world.
"We lose so much when he does not play. In addition to playing in defence, he enjoys defending and it is not often you see that.
"The sacrifices he makes in defence and his work ethic are fantastic. If it were down to him he would try and play this Sunday against (Real) Betis."
