Maxi blow for Barca

Barca's Maxi Lopez will miss the rest of the season after breaking a bone in his foot.

Maxi Lopez will miss Barcelona's run-in after tests confirmed he has fractured a bone in his foot.

The Argentine hit-man will need surgery on the injury and is expected to be sidelined for around three months.

"We carried out some X-rays but they showed us very little," stated club doctor Jordi Arevol.

"But some new tests revealed that he had a fracture. Now we are waiting to decide on a date for surgery."

The news will come as a major concern for Barca boss Frank Rijkaard who now only has one senior striker fit in Samuel Eto'o.

The Cameroonian has only just returned from injury himself, while Henrik Larsson is still recovering from a long-term knee complaint and will not feature again this term.

Barca are closing on their first Spanish league title in five years and hold a six-point lead over arch rivals Real Madrid with just five games remaining.
