Giuly's World Cup aim

Ludovic Giuly is determined to force his way into France's squad for the World Cup finals.

The Barcelona midfielder has yet to establish himself as a fixture in Raymond Domenech's plans and missed the recent friendlies against Costa Rica and Germany.

His last appearance for Les Bleus was as a scoring substitute in the World Cup qualifying win over Cyprus in October.

That was Giuly's 17th cap for his country, but it was his first appearance for the national team since May.

He admits he is unsure why Domenech overlooked him for November's friendly double-header, but remains eager to play at the World Cup in Germany next summer.

"I didn't get any phone call from the national coach to tell me why he didn't call on me for the last two friendlies," complained Giuly in L'Equipe.

"But what could he tell me? He didn't call me and I respect his choices.

"It is up to me to show I am good in my club and I am working hard for that.

"There are four months before the next French team match to show I am a first-team member with Barca and that I am keen to play in the World Cup.
