Barcelona striker Maxi Lopez has declined Real Betis' approach for him, preferring to fight for his place at Camp Nou.
There has been constant speculation that the 21-year-old will be loaned out in order to gain some experience as Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho are currently leading the line for the Catalan side.
However, Lopez has stated that he would only leave Camp Nou if he was forced out.
"My agent told me that Betis are interested in me and I am very thankful to them because they thought I would reinforce their team," said Lopez.
"However, I don't want to sound unkind, but I came to a European giant and I want to stay here because I haven't been able to show what I can give to the team.
"I told my agent to say thank you to Betis but that I want to stay at Barca.
"The only way that I would accept to leave is if the officials at Barca say to me that they don't want me anymore and that I will never have a chance to play in the team.
"As that hasn't happened I have faith in that I will be able to play.
"Maybe I will have to wait some more time before having the chance to play, but I am not in a hurry because I am very young," the Argentinean told Radio La Red.
