Barca boosted as duo return

Both Xavi and Andres Iniesta have returned to training for Liga giants Barcelona.

Barcelona received a boost on Thursday as Xavi and Andres Iniesta returned to training and both could be in line to play against Real Mallorca this weekend.

With Edmilson out after spraining his ankle and Thiago Motta likely to be suspended following his sending off against Real Zaragoza, coach Frank Rijkaard will be buoyed by the comeback of the two playmakers.

Xavi failed to complete training earlier in the week, but stayed until the end on Thursday without any signs of discomfort and declared that he should be fit for the game on Sunday.

"If things continue like this then I will be available," the Catalan star explained. "I hope to give the coach another option."

After missing the last three games, against Deportivo, Badalona and Zaragoza, Xavi just needs to recover his match fitness in time to be considered for the trip to the ONO Stadium.

Iniesta should also be ready despite pulling out of the Spain squad for the international friendly against Romania in Cadiz on Wednesday.

The La Mancha-born midfielder suffered a blow to his left knee during the victory against Zaragoza and Barca asked the Spanish Federation to allow him not to play.
