Ramon Calderon has insisted Real Madrid do not want to sign Andres Iniesta.Ramon Calderon has insisted Real Madrid are not considering a move for Barcelona's Andres Iniesta.
Reports in Spain suggested this week that Real were mulling over a é¼60million (£40million) bid for Iniesta, which would trigger his release clause.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta responded to the speculation by saying there was no way Iniesta would leave Camp Nou, and Calderon has now told his opposite number there is no need for him to worry.
"I called Laporta yesterday to say to him that we were not going to go for Iniesta," Calderon told Marca.
"We have (Fernando) Gago in the centre already, so that position is covered.
"The relationship between the two clubs is excellent and we want to continue like this."
Calderon also expressed his admiration for Lionel Messi but admitted it would be impossible to prise him away from Barca.
"Messi is an excellent player and all the great players are wanted by all the top clubs in the world," he explained.
"Messi is a dream that is not possible because while he is under contract Barcelona would not let him escape, as we would not do with Raul, Robinho or (Iker) Casillas."
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have extended the contracts of three young players until 2011.
Midfielders Javier Angel Balboa, Ruben De La Red and Adrian Gonzalez have all penned four-year deals.
Goalkeeper Jordi Codina has also agreed a new three-year deal with Real.
