Martin Palermo has explained the level of passion involved in the Seville derby, and admitted that hoping to score in the game can have a detrimental effect on his performance.
Betis star Palermo believes that the game against Sevilla is one of the most passionate derbies in football, comparing it to River Plate versus Boca Juniors in his native Argentina.
"I am going to concentrate on training well this week because that is the only way the goals will arrive," said Palermo.
"I don't want to drive myself mad thinking too much about the chance of scoring - because that stops me concentrating and I play badly.
"Some people prefer to win this game than the championship so this is a derby of pure passion.
"I think it is similar to River and Boca, or Estudiantes and Gimnasia in Argentina - derbies that I have played in during my career."
