Los Merengues produced a polished display in their quarter final first-leg at El Santaigo Bernabeu to leave Valencia with a mountain to climb after goals from Raul, Ronaldo and Luis Figo.
Raul opened the scoring just past the half hour mark when he glanced home a deft header from 15 yards after beating Spanish international team-mate David Albelda to Santiago Solari's pacy cross.
Real's second did not arrive until ten minutes from time when Ronaldo danced through a retreating Valencia rearguard to fire home from twelve yards.
The game, and possibly the tie, was wrapped up by Figo from the penalty spot three minutes later, after Carlos Marchena had been somewhat harshly penalised for tripping Raul in the box.
However, the game then finished in controversial circumstances when Beckham was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence after an innocuous looking challenge with a two minutes left on the clock.
The England skipper was followed down the tunnel by Che captain David Albelda moments later when he too was shown his second yellow card.
Elsewhere, Real's city rivals Atletico slumped to a heavy 4-0 defeat at Sevilla which seems sure to end their interest in the competition.
Sevilla were three up inside half an hour with efforts from Dario Silva, Jose Antonio Reyes and Pablo Alfaro.
A fourth from Julio Baptista with 17 minutes left completed a miserable night for Gregorio Manzano's men.
