Espanyol are now second to their city rivals Barcelona in La Liga, but Real could now have a game in hand if they are forced to replay their clash with Sociedad.

Espanyol got on with their own job after they brushed aside relegation threatened Mallorca.
Mauricio Pochettino (25) and Oscar Serrano (35) grabbed the goals which gave them victory, with Guillermo Pereyra's (60) goal proving no more than a mere consolation.
Champions Valencia kept up the pressure on their La Liga title rivals with a hard fought 1-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Numancia.
The only goal at La Mestalla came after 20 minutes when defender Carlos Marchena pounced.
A rousing end to the game at La Riazor saw Deportovia La Coruna come from behind, but then they had victory snatched away in the final minute by Seville.
Dominguez Carlos put Sevile ahead just before the interval, but Sergio (51) and then Lionel Scaloni (88) looked to have won the game for the home side.
However, Deportivo had not reckoned with Julio Baptista as he struck with just seconds left to rescue a point for Seville.
Real Betis climbed into the top-six with a 2-1 triumph over Racing Santander in Sevilla.
Edu put Betis ahead after 27 minutes and Ricardo Oliveira struck (70) to make sure of the points, as Racing could only grab a consolation through Javier Arizmendi in the final minute.
Osasuna and Real Zaragoza remain entrenched in mid-table after they played out a 2-2 draw.
Richard Morales put Osasuna ahead after just three minutes, but Oscar Gonzalez struck twice (13 & 63) for the visitors to put them ahead.
Francisco Punal's penalty (72) made sure the home side took a share of the spoils.
Malaga moved out of the bottom three with a 1-0 win over Levante at La Rosaleda.
Brazilian Marcio Amoruso grabbed the only goal of the encounter just after the interval.
Villarreal climbed to within touching distance of the top half after a 2-1 win at Getafe.
Antonio Guayre (7) and Diego Forlan (59) put Villarreal 2-0 up and they managed to hang on for the win despite Victoriano Nano's late goal.
