Sevilla have hit back at Mallorca calls for Javi Navarro to receive an extensive ban.
Sevilla have hit back at calls from Mallorca that Javi Navarro should receive an extensive ban following his collision with Juan Arango last weekend.
The Andalucian club's president, Jose del Nido, was also furious that the head of the Spanish FA's (RFEF) disciplinary committee criticised Navarro on national radio.
Arango was hit by Navarro's elbow during the match on Sunday and sustained a broken cheekbone that left him having convulsions on the pitch.
"We will send the committee all of the physical and medical proof that we have got so that they can act with the maximum rigour that the current legislation allows," said a Mallorca statement.
Del Nido was raging after the announcement was made and claims that the Balearic club are setting a bad precedent.
"A dangerous door is being opened," he said. "Javi Navarro is being Satanised.
"It is monstrous that people are judging what has happened on the field. It does not happen to other clubs.
"In a radio programme on Monday night, I was astounded to hear the president of the disciplinary committee speaking about the incident.
"When it comes to the case being heard, will he then abstain from evaluating?
"The media have also decided there has to be a punishment. Both locally and nationally things have been said, so the committee will have to do something.
"We were in the same situation as Mallorca a couple of months ago when Javi Navarro broke his nose and fractured his cheek, but we did not make a huge public fuss."
