Sevilla defender Javi Navarro has been handed a five-match ban.Sevilla defender Javi Navarro has been handed a five-match ban.
Navarro was charged after his challenge on Real Mallorca forward Juan Arango.
Venezuelan Arango was left unconscious after suffering a broken cheekbone which needed over 40 stitches.
Arango is not allowed to begin training for another month at least.
Navarro was shown a yellow card originally, but he has now been given a five-match suspension by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after Mallorca asked them to investigate the matter.
"We gave the ban for violent play," RFEF competitions committee president Alfredo Florez told Radio Marca.
"There was no evidence of the action being deliberate, however, and we also took into account the fact that the player showed immediate regret for his actions."
