John Aloisi is reported to have agreed a three-year deal to join Panathinaikos.
The Australian is a free agent having come to the end of his contract with Spanish outfit Osasuna and was being chased by a host of clubs.
He has been linked with a return to former club Portsmouth, as well as teams in Germany, while Osasuna were also hoping to persuade him to sign a new contract.
However, reports suggest Panathinaikos have won the race for the former Coventry man with a contract worth around é¼1 million having persuaded him to head to Greece.
Osasuna now look likely to firm up their interest in Sevilla striker Ariza Makukula.
The Navarra-based outfit had already opened talks with their Sevilla counterparts in the eventually that Aloisi might leave - which now appears a certainty.
Makukula joined Sevilla last summer from Nantes, but was troubled by injury problems and failed to establish himself at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan.
