Fredi Kanoute scored and was sent off as Sevilla beat Getafe in the Copa del Rey final.Fredi Kanoute's remarkable season ended in a mixture of glory and controversy as he scored Sevilla's winner in their 1-0 Copa del Rey final victory over Getafe, before being sent off in the dying minutes.
The Mali international - who could be on his way back to the Premiership this summer after a prolific season in Spain - ensured that the Andalucian side added the domestic cup to their Uefa Cup triumph, making up for their failure on the last day of the league season.
Sevilla claimed their fourth Copa del Rey victory courtesy of Kanoute's goal after 11 minutes, and never relinquished their lead against a Getafe side who reached the final after a stunning semi-final win over Barcelona.
The former Tottenham and West Ham striker bore down on goal and rolled the ball past Getafe keeper Luis Garcia to cap his impressive second season with the club.
However, Kanoute's night ended in disappointing fashion as he was shown a red card in the dying seconds of the contest for retaliating after a foul from Francisco Casquero.
In the past two seasons, Juande Ramos has now led Sevilla to two Uefa Cup triumphs, a Copa del Rey win and the European Super Cup.
