Champions Bayern Munich threw away a two-goal lead in their opening Bundesliga encounter as Hamburg claimed a 2-2 draw.
Munich had looked well on course for maximum points as goals from Bastian Schweinsteiger and Lukas Podolski put them ahead.
But Jurgen Klinnsmann's first game was ruined as Hamburg struck back through former Bayern men Jose Paolo Guerrero and Piotr Trochowski.
Bayern had begun the match in fine style as Schweinsteiger fired home from the edge of the box 12 minutes in.
Just minutes later Schweinsteiger was causing further chaos in the Hamburg defence and he was brought down for a penalty, which Podolski converted.
But Martin Jol's men did not lie down and settle for defeat as they pulled one back on 25 minutes with Guerrero heading home an excellent Trochowski cross.
Then just before the hour, Christian Lell brought down Ivica Olic and Trochowski kept his nerve to fire home past Michael Rensing to secure an unlikely point for the Rothosen.
