The Argentine midfielder has been one of Real's unsung heroes this season and has performed an admirable job alongside illustrious midfield cohorts Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane.
Prior to the Christmas recess in La Liga, Cambiasso had been suffering from a bout of tendonitis in his knee and also returned to his homeland where he got married.
But on arriving back in Madrid, Cambiasso was overlooked for Real's clash against Sevilla on Thursday evening and concedes he was feeling hurt at being omitted.
"Logically, I am not calm with this situation but it's normal," opined Cambiasso. "I always want to be in the team and when I am not called on to play, I suffer.
"I know that I have worked very hard to reach the place where I am now. I didn't think I was going to play so many minutes this season, I must say that.
"Real Madrid have many very good players but I can't tell the coach what he has to do.
"He can't give explanations to all of us during the week about his decisions. He knows that I am a person who works hard and who doesn't ask for explanations, neither when I play nor when I don't.
"I must be thankful and I don't have to complain because there is nothing to complain about. I have the dream of returning to the team soon."
