Ricardo relishing Real test

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ricardo admits he is relishing the prospect of travelling to face Real Madrid this weekend with new employers Racing Santander.

The custodian returned to his native Spain during the summer, and has been an ever-present for Racing this term as the Cantabrian outfit have made an encouraging start to the campaign.

Lucas Alcaraz's men currently sit fifth in La Primera, and Ricardo is hoping to maintain their good form against reigning Spanish champions Real.

"We go to Madrid with a lot of excitement," declared Ricardo. "It's a great game for any player to play in and we don't have anything to lose.

"If we play well we will make it difficult for Madrid and we have a chance of getting something out of the game.

"We must continue as we have done, playing to the same level we have done all season and not changing our style.

"However, everyone will be very happy to be going out on to that pitch and playing against those players."

Ricardo went on to admit that he was looking forward to renewing acquaintances with former Manchester United team mate David Beckham before the game on Saturday.

"I have still not spoken to him, (since returning to Spain) but I will.

"I will greet him warmly because I spent a year with him and we forged a good friendship."
