Perez bullish over Woodgate

President Florentino Perez believes the future is still bright at Real Madrid.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes Jonathan Woodgate and Walter Samuel will become the best central defensive pairing on the planet.

Perez has been criticised in some quarters for splashing out on England international Woodgate, who has yet to play for his new club due to injury problems.

Yet the Bernabeu supremo is convinced the good times will return at Real despite their relatively poor start to the campaign.

"I am sure we have created the best team in the world," enthused Perez.

"You will see Samuel and Woodgate will become the best partnership in the world soon.

"The only mistake I can accept is about Carlos Queiroz. With his education and experience, we thought he could develop that area.

"But he didn't succeed.

"As for (Jose Antonio) Camacho, he had personal reasons. Now there is Garcia Remon and I think he is on the right track."

Perez is convinced the future is bright for the capital club.

"Honestly, I think we are in a bad run," he informed L'Equipe. "The better days will come.

"I assert that we have a great team that will give us a lot of satisfaction."
