Real Madrid cut Barcelona's lead at the top of La Liga to four points.Real Madrid cut Barcelona's lead at the top of La Liga to four points with a 4-0 win over Espanyol.
Los Galacticos have hit form with a vengeance under new boss Wanderley Luxemburgo and Saturday's win over Espanyol was the sixth on the spin in La Liga.
Real's big names came out to play, with Raul and Zinedine Zidane netting and the likes of Luis Figo, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos all going close.
Zidane opened the scoring on 13 minutes, slamming home powerfully with his left foot.
Raul has struggled for form this term, but he showed his predatory instincts to net the second as he stabbed home from close range after Carlos Kameni could only push Figo's stinging drive onto the post.
Real did not have it all their own way, as Iker Casillas was forced to make a fine save from Ivan de la Pena, although they were rarely in danger of being overhauled.
Kameni made outstanding second half saves from Roberto Carlos and Figo, as the Cameroon keeper kept the score respectable, but he could do nothing about Raul's close range finish on 75 minutes.
Thomas Gravesen took centre stage six minutes from time, with the Dane stroking home from the edge of the box to open his account for Real and fire out a warning to Barca.
A see-saw encounter saw Real Sociedad pinch a point against Valencia with virtually the last kick of the game.
Valencia are struggling to keep tabs on Barcelona and, after leading on two occasions, surrendered a lead in the dying seconds when Nihat popped up to net his second of the game.
Marco Di Vaio had Valencia in front early on, but Nihat netted on the stroke of half time to level the scores.
The game sprang into life in the final ten minutes, as Mikel Aranburu fired Real ahead, only for Ruben Baraja to level shortly afterwards.
Valencia thought they had stolen the points when Xisco scored on 89 minutes, but their hopes were dashed when Nihat popped up to pinch a point for Sociedad.
