Iker Casillas is ready to wait before signing a new deal at Real Madrid.Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas is looking for assurances over his first team place before committing his future to the club.
The Spanish international has 18 months to run on his current deal and the club are looking to tie him down to a new long-term contract.
Casillas has admitted he is unsure of his future as he is worried about speculation linking Real with a move for Juventus custodian Gianluigi Buffon.
"I want to renew my contract and I hope to continue at Real Madrid. I am a Madrid fan and have been here for eight years," Casillas told Spanish daily ABC.
"The club have to call on me to begin negotiations and I don't think there will be any problem with that happening.
"However, it is true that if they are thinking of signing Buffon, I would like to know that before renewing.
"It's normal for Madrid to look at other players, but I am not closing any doors, because the law of football doesn't allow you to."
The 23-year-old insists the talk regarding his future will not affect his performances for Real for the remainder of the campaign.
"I am not worried, as I have confidence in my work, I have no problems about what could happen," added Casillas.
"I am not losing sleep."
